FAQs

Most Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Tattoo Removal Procedure

Often the biggest question on everyone’s mind is “Does tattoo removal hurt?”

It definitely hurts, but it is not as bad as you think. Luckily treatments typically only take a couple of minutes so the pain is short-lived!

At Lazer wizard, we try to eliminate the pain for our client as much as possible. With the use of our Zimmer Air Cooler your tattoo removal session discomfort can be significantly reduced. The Zimmer blows -30 degree air on the area. This chilling effect helps to reduce discomfort during and after your laser removal treatment, minimise swelling and thermal injury to your skin.

In most cases, a skin test patch is performed prior to your laser treatment full session. This allows the patient to gauge how comfortable they are during the treatment. If you still need extra pain relief, numbing cream can be applied to reduce discomfort even further!

Can all tattoo colours be removed?

The short answer is yes! With the use of our Quanta Q Plus C-Evo’s Tri-wavelength technology, we are able to successfully treat all colours of tattoo ink.

Can a red/black ink tattoo be removed?

Typically darker colours respond the quickest using the 1064nm wavelength.

Other colours are treated using the 532nm wavelength and the Q Plus C-Evo’s advanced tattoo removal built-in Ruby laser, which utilises the 694nm wavelength.

Can cosmetic tattoos be removed?

Yes, Cosmetic tattoos or ‘permanent make-up’ can be removed with laser treatment. For more information please visit our Laser Tattoo Removal Services

Usually how many laser tattoo treatments are required?

A number of factors determine how many treatments may be needed to remove your tattoo. These include the size of the tattoo, ink density, depth, colour, age, and the general well being of the patient.

Typically the average number of laser treatments for a professionally done tattoo is between 5 and 10, while fresh tattoos will need less.

If you are wanting to lighten a tattoo prior to a cover up, 1-3 treatments are usually needed.

Can I get a new tattoo over the skin that has been lasered?

Absolutely! Previously lasered skin can be tattooed 12 weeks after your last laser treatment.

What is the average cost of laser tattoo removal?

Our treatments start at $80 – pricing is based on the size and colour of a tattoo. The full cost of your treatment will be discussed during your initial FREE consultation.

Will laser tattoo removal leave scars?

Unless you are prone to keloid scarring or are reckless with your aftercare, ending up with a scar is very unlikely! Scaring as a result of getting a tattoo can actually be reduced with the use of our fractional treatment which we offer for FREE after every laser tattoo removal treatment.

Am I eligible for tattoo removal?

At Lazer Wizard we are serious about safety, so the following requirements must be met before a laser treatment can be performed.

Hypopigmentation and an ineffective treatment are common side effects of overexposure to the sun prior to treatment. So, if you’ve got a tan (including fake) you can’t be treated. We recommend a minimum of 4 weeks out of the sun before any laser treatment.

Can I get laser tattoo removal while pregnant?

You cannot be treated if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although there is no evidence that shows laser tattoo removal is harmful to unborn babies, we would rather not take a chance.

If you are taking any light-sensitive medications like Roaccutaine, you cannot undergo a laser treatment for a minimum of 6 months after you have finished using the medication.
